“Beetroot Soup" explores the connection between food, memory, and ancestral tradition. Inspired by barszcz (beetroot soup), a cherished dish within Slavic culture often shared during Christmas, weddings, and family gatherings, the painting reflects how recipes are passed through generations, carrying stories, heritage, and a sense of belonging.

Within the deep red tones of the soup, ghost-like faces appear in place of traditional uszka dumplings, symbolising the generations before us whose hands prepared these meals and whose memories continue to live on through family traditions.

Painted in oil, the work honours the family table as a place where culture, love, and history are preserved and passed forward.
